‘We don’t just make helmets; we make possibilities.’ That’s the mantra of Bell Helmets. Refreshingly simple. Because let’s face it, helmet technology is rather repetitive and, well, dull. Riding is where the magic happens and that’s what Bell Helmets just gets. And that’s why Bell Helmets South Africa has launched its Saved by the Bell campaign.

There’s a growing number of South African youngsters that are being drawn to mountain biking. They like their mountain biking to me more stimulating than strenuous, more exciting than exasperating and more focussed than fatiguing. They like to send jumps, rail berms and learn tricks. They like to charge down slopes fast and walk back up slowly. They take risks and need the appropriate protection.

Saved by the Bell is aimed at both raising awareness of the sender/gravity market that comprises mostly kids and teens (and fearless adults) and of its helmet models that are designed specifically for this market, including the Bell 4Forty and the Bell Nomad.

Over the next three months we will publish weekly content that includes cool riding spots, rider profiles, gear features and more under our SHRED division, which is specifically focussed on gravity and youth mountain biking – all thanks to the Saved by the Bell campaign.

You’ve probably noticed that some of the world’s leading gravity and slopestyle riders wear Bell helmets, including Downhillers, Danny Hart and Aaron Gwin, Trail Shredders, Bryn Atkinson and Ryan Howard, and Slopestyle riders, Caroline Buchanan and Tyler McCaul – and many others – more here.

Because we want to include everyone that’s interested in this campaign, we are giving away three Bell helmets (one per month) valued at R3000 each to winners of the Saved by the Bell competition. Here’s what you have to do to go into the mix:

STEP 1: Follow @bellhelmets_bike and @shred_sa on Instagram

STEP 2: Post on your Instagram account a photo or video of you doing something on your bike that you’re proud of, tagging bellhelmets_bike and @shred_sa and use the hashtag #savedbythebellSA

Every four weeks we will include all the posts into a draw and randomly choose one winner. Everyone is at a different level of riding, so don’t feel intimidated if you can’t do crazy tricks. Just post what you are proud of doing on your bike and do the tagging and hashtagging to be in the running.

Note: The winner will be notified by Instagram DM. If the winner does not respond within 48 hours of us sending the DM, we reserve the right to draw another winner. The winner can choose whether he/she wants a Bell 4Forty OR a Bell Nomad. The prize is not exchangeable for cash. The prize will be delivered by courier to the winner’s daytime address.
