Just months after launching the new EasyFold 3, Thule delivers the new OutPace. It’s another classy bike rack that combines the best elements of Thule design and quality that’s sleek, functional and compact – at an impressive price.
Paid partnership with Thule South Africa
In 2023, Thule set a new benchmark with its Epos rack. Probably the ultimate in bike racks, it was, not surprisingly, well received. But some found the price a bit formidable. Then earlier this year, Thule’s new EasyFold 3 showcased new design elements for three-to-four bike transport. Also, not surprisingly, well received.
But both the EasyFold 3 and Epos are too much rack for some – especially those who transport one or two bikes and/or have space constraints of some kind such as those who live in flats or share accommodation.
“The Thule OutPace was designed with space – or rather a lack of it – and convenience in mind. With its lightweight build, innovative tilt-up function, flexible bike arms and compact capability, the OutPace ticks all the boxes. But what’s also really good is the price,” said Jamie Owen of SA Sport & Cargo, distributors of Thule in South Africa.
Although very slim in construction, the OutPace can transport a combined bike weight up to 50kg, ideal for a range of bicycles, including two eBikes.
Here are the standout features of the new OutPace:
Bridging compact design with outstanding performance
Thule OutPace is engineered to make bike transportation hassle-free while minimising the storage footprint. With a foldable design, the rack is easy to handle and stows neatly in your garage or car boot, making it an ideal choice for those with limited space.
Effortless loading and compatibility
Thanks to independent, articulated bike arms with an adjustable pivoting head and strap, Thule OutPace accommodates a wide range of bike frames and designs, from 20mm to 90mm. Whether your bike is compact or larger, the flexible arms make loading simple and secure.
Versatile and accessible for any adventure
Designed with urban users in mind, Thule OutPace features a tilt-up function that reduces its footprint when parked, helping to minimise the risk of damage. Additionally, the integrated lights ensure optimal visibility during transport. The rack’s lightweight build and carrying handle make it effortless to install on the towbar, even from a vertical position.
Safety and functionality combined
Built-in lights enhance safety during transport, and the rack’s design always ensures easy access to the boot. The adjustable bike fit feature allows users to secure bikes of various sizes and styles confidently, while the secure strap attachment system keeps wheel straps neatly tucked away, preventing tangling and allowing for quick fastening. Bikes can also be loaded and unloaded independently.
Price and availability
Thule OutPace is now available in South Africa in the two-bike (R18 999) and three-bike (R21 999) options. It’s available at Thule stores, Thule cycling product retailers and online here.
