SCOTT Sports, respected for its commitment to innovation, technology and design, has been at the forefront of the eBike evolution and has created and refined the best eBikes for all types of mountain biker. The recently redesigned Patron eRide offers the ultimate in eBike technology and ride quality and it’s set to make an impact in South Africa.

SCOTT Sports has completely redesigned the Patron eRide to deliver one of the world’s most impressive full-power e-mountain bikes. It comes in two series – the Patron 900 and the Patron ST (Super Trail).

The updated version of the Patron eRide gives SCOTT Sports the most comprehensive eBike range in the industry, with mountain bike eRide models in the Aspect, Strike, Strike EVO, Lumen, Voltage and Patron ranges as well as the Solace eRide for gravel and the Addict eRide for road.

The new Patron eRide serves as the flagship series in the eRide mountain bike segment.

The Patron 900 series is crafted for all-around fun and versatility, making it the ideal choice for trail enthusiasts who want a bike that can handle a variety of conditions. With 150mm of well-balanced front and rear travel and versatile, trail-optimised components, the Patron 900 is perfect for riders looking for a bike that performs reliably on both climbs and descents, without compromising comfort or control.

SCOTT Patron 900

The Patron ST series is purpose-built for aggressive, technical riding on rough and demanding trails, with reinforced components designed to withstand bigger impacts and intense downhill action. With 170mm of front travel and a piggyback shock in the rear, the ST platform excels when the trail points downhill, offering maximum control and stability for riders who seek adrenaline- fuelled descents.

FRAME CONSTRUCTION

The Patron’s frame is available in three options: a full carbon version, a full alloy version, and a hybrid version, featuring a carbon main frame combined with an alloy rear triangle. All frame configurations feature the same modern geometry, innovative integration, and a sleek design, ensuring a consistent riding experience across all models.

The 900 and ST models share the same versatile 150mm travel frame, making them ideal for various riding conditions. Compared to the previous model the shock has been repositioned to a lower, more centralised location to improve weight distribution and overall performance. Redesigned covers with mechanical and magnetic fastenings provide easy access to integrated components.

FRAME GEOMETRY

Balance is key and the Patron’s geometry offers the perfect blend of fun, control, efficiency, and comfort. It’s designed to give you confidence and agility on downhills while enabling powerful riding and efficient climbing with motor assistance.

Both the Patron and Patron ST feature 150mm of rear travel, with the 900 matching that in the front. The ST, however, is equipped with a 170mm fork, offering extra travel for added control and slackening the geometry for rougher trails.

CABLE MANAGEMENT

For both hydraulic and mechanical housings, SCOTT has designed the most natural routing for them to enter and exit the frame. The goal is to reduce friction by avoiding unnecessary bends and to ensure optimal functionality. This natural path runs from the rear wheel through the chainstay, then up the seat tube and along the top tube to the head tube.

INTEGRATED SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGY

The new Patron integrates SCOTT’s patented Integrated Suspension Technology, which enhances performance by lowering the bike’s centre of gravity. This design improvement results in superior handling and a more stable, confidence-inspiring ride. Furthermore, the shock is well-protected from the elements, preserving its performance. As a bonus, these thoughtful design elements contribute to a visually striking and impressive bike.

TRAC-LOC SUSPENSION SYSTEM

The Patron 900 features the TracLoc suspension system, a proprietary SCOTT design that connects the shock to a handlebar remote, allowing you to switch between three modes for versatile performance. When transitioning from Descend mode to Traction Control, two key changes occur: the air volume in the shock is reduced, and compression damping is adjusted.

These adjustments alter the bike’s dynamic geometry: you sit higher in the shock’s travel, which increases ground clearance and positions you more effectively for power transfer on snappy singletrack and technical climbs. As a result, the bike becomes more agile, nimble, and efficient without sacrificing traction or sensitivity.

Additionally, the shock includes a lockout mode, which is the firmest setting and ideal for long climbs on smoother surfaces as you approach the trailhead. This mode also features a blow-off mechanism to protect the suspension from damage during unexpected impacts.

SAG INDICATOR

Setting sag and checking travel usage with the Patron is as easy as on SCOTT’s other integrated shock bikes. An external indicator on the linkage allows the rider to effortlessly adjust the sag and monitor how much travel is being used.

MONUMENTAL CAPACITY

The Patron features the new integrated 800Wh Bosch battery, providing ample range for long, demanding rides. This battery seamlessly fits into the bike’s silhouette, while the downtube door allows for easy removal and effortless charging. For riders seeking even more range, the Bosch PowerMore Range Extender adds an additional 250Wh, offering a total of 1050Wh and ensuring longer days on the trails without range anxiety.

EFFORTLESS CONTROL

To ensure you’re always in control, the Patron features Bosch displays and remotes that simplify mode changes and keep track of your ride without distracting from the trail. The minimalist design allows for seamless integration with the bike.

OPTIMISED CONTROL FOR INCREASED SPEED

Selected Patron models come equipped with Bosch ABS Pro, a braking system designed to improve traction on challenging surfaces. This advanced system automatically adjusts brake pressure based on current conditions, allowing you to maintain focus on the trail ahead. If you find yourself braking late while descending, you can rely on the ABS to help you maintain control and optimise your speed, allowing you to brake later on purpose with confidence. Bosch ABS Pro is available on the Patron ST 900 Tuned and Patron 900 models.

“The first-generation Patron eRide put SCOTT firmly on the full eBike map, but the second-generation model clearly places SCOTT at the forefront of this evolving segment. In South Africa, there’s consistent demand for reliable full-power eBikes with generous range. The new SCOTT Patron eRide offers exactly that with additional technology to ensure a more controlled, comfortable ride. We will extend the range of Patron models available in South Africa as this is our flagship eBike,” said Joggie Prinsloo, SCOTT Sports Africa Brand Manager.

“When you invest in a SCOTT bike, you get the best combination of innovation, technology and design. We see the Patron eRide filling a key role in the South African market and we will continue to add value, offering accessibility and exceptional after-sales service,” added Prinsloo.

There are two models of the SCOTT Patron eRide currently available in South Africa – the 920 and the 910, with the 900 arriving later this month (June 2025). The extended range will be available soon and will include the Patron ST.
