There’s something special about riding singletrack that flows so well it feels hand-carved just for you. On 11 and 12 April, that feeling comes alive at the second edition of the Fedgroup Cradle 100, a two-day mountain bike celebration set against one of South Africa’s most iconic backdrops.
Paid partnership with Fedgroup
Just outside Johannesburg, this is one of only a handful of mountain bike stage races in Gauteng – and it’s fast becoming a must-do on the provincial calendar.
Whether you’re ready to commit to two days in the saddle or prefer a single-day challenge, the Fedgroup Cradle 100 has you covered.

STAGE RACE
- Stage 1: 45km | 876m ascent
- Stage 2: 55km | 903m ascent
ONE-DAY RACE
- 45km | 876m ascent
- 25km | 332m ascent
- 10km | 176m ascent

It’s challenging, yes, but designed to be a rideable, rewarding and seriously enjoyable race.
“After the success of the inaugural edition last year, we are excited to present a refined 2026 edition of the Fedgroup Cradle 100,” says Race Director Andrew Grobler. “The new venue is perfect for a mountain bike event of this size, and we have had another 12 months to fine-tune the route to ensure it remains challenging, but rideable and thoroughly rewarding.”

A NEW VENUE
This year the event moves to Syringa Park, a venue purpose-built for large events and known for its relaxed, festival atmosphere. Expect food and drinks vendors, space for supporters to unwind, and activities to keep the kids entertained while riders tackle the trails.
The routes draw from the renowned Fedgroup Trails Network – primarily hand-built singletracks that are engaging, meticulously maintained and clearly marked. These are trails that reward focus and flow in equal measure.

Riders will traverse sections of established favourites at: Avianto, Pambili, Farmhouse 58 and Cradle Moon. New sections exclusive to the Fedgroup Cradle 100 will also be introduced, adding a fresh edge to an already proven network.
All of this unfolds within the rugged countryside of the Cradle of Humankind, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that blends ancient history with wide-open riding terrain. It’s rare to race somewhere that feels this remote while being so accessible.

And true to Fedgroup’s reputation for over-delivering, your entry includes:
- Access to either the one-day or two-day MTB race experience.
- Race packs with gifts.
- Exciting prizes for winners and medals for all finishers.
- A free coffee and lunch coupon for each race day.
- Food and drinks on sale for entrants and supporters.
- On-site medical support.
- Bike wash facilities
- Post-recovery area
- Online results shortly after each day’s racing.

In 2025, top performers were even offered a unique prize option: take the cash or double it with a 5-year Fedgroup Secured Investment. It’s a distinctive twist that reflects the event’s long-term thinking and commitment to adding real value. And it will be offered again at the 2026 edition.
The Fedgroup Cradle 100 isn’t just about kilometres and elevation gain. It’s about riding exceptional singletrack, spending a weekend outdoors with family and friends, and being part of a growing mountain bike community in Gauteng.
